you watched TV. you went out. you played soccer. you drank beer.
I recorded these songs. ~Gabi

produced, recorded, "engineered", mixed and mastered by Gabi
all instruments, vocals, noises and un-existing chords by Gabi

kicking it spike lee style

1. 3rd planet -- modest mouse (the moon and antarctica)

everything that keeps me together is falling apart
I have this thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over
my boss just quit the job
he says he's going out to find blind spots
and he'll do it
the third planet is sure they're being watched
by an eye in the sky that can't be stopped
and when you get to the promised land you're gonna shake that eye's hand

your heart felt good
it was dripping pitch and made of wood
and your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass to me
outside, naked, shivering, looking blue
from the cold sunlight that's reflected off the moon
baby come angels fly around you
reminding you we used to be three and not just two

and that's how the world began
and that's how the world will end

a third had just been made
and we were swimming in the water
I didn't know then - was it a son, was it a daughter
when it occurred to me that the animals are swimming
around in the water in the oceans in our bodies
and another had been found
another ocean on the planet
given that our blood is just like the atlantic

and how the universe is shaped exactly like the earth
if you go straight along enough you'll end up where you were

your heart felt good
it was dripping pitch and made of wood
and your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass to me
outside, naked, shivering, looking blue
from the cold sunlight that's reflected off the moon
baby come angels fly around you
reminding you we used to be three and not just two

and that's how the world began
and that's how the world will end

everything that keeps me together is falling apart
I have this thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over

2. frying pan -- victoria williams (happy come home)

one laugh in the middle of the struggle
a diamond at the bottom of a puddle
did you ever stare at the moon till you saw double?
I hear you walk away from trouble
good love, there ain't no denying
say, bad love, somebody ain't trying
did you ever walk some place just to take time?
or take the fast road and get going..

and then the rules break
there's no mistake
these are precious times
you and I
we walk the line

I looked in a frying pan
I sang a song
I looked at a dying man
he sang along

we've got mountains
we've got beaches
we've got love that makes us mad
love that has to teach us

I looked in a frying pan
I sang a song
I looked at a dying man
he sang along

then the rules break
there's no mistake
these are precious times
you and I
we walk the line

3. almost beating -- bill janovitz and crown victoria (fireworks on TV)

there are certain things there are about you
like the wind, your belt-buckle and a comb
but every time I try to think about you
I realize I'm better off alone
but then the moonlight hits you from behind..

and you can almost play the part
with your almost beating heart
and I almost fall apart

I'm always singing when I should be living
speaking softly from an airplane, son
but like a life that's only been half realized
I realized that you were not the one
but then a snowflake hits me in the eye

and you can almost play the part
with your almost beating heart
and I almost fall apart

the rags we used to wear
the winter in your hair
your friends avoiding me
like strangers in the street
I almost fall apart

there are certain things you saw about me
in the air and the razor and my shoes
but like a christmas bird caught in a snowstorm
I was always looking out for you

and you can almost play the part
with your almost beating heart
and I almost fall apart

I almost fall apart
with your almost beating heart

4. radio king -- golden smog (down by the old mainstream)

let's go down together
3 a.m. tomorrow night
I'll take you over anything

let's go out together
broad daylight in the street
I'll take you anywhere

your music fills my car
but your voice breaks every time
I'm still wondering if I know who you are
I hang on every line

let's go down together
down by the old mainstream
I'll take you over anything

let's go back in time
1959
I'll take you, radio king

your music fills my car
but your voice breaks every time
I'm still wondering if I know who you are
so I hang on every line

5. sunken treasure -- wilco (being there)

there's rows and rows of houses
with windows painted blue
with the light from the TV
running parallel to you

but there ain't no sunken treasure
rumoured to be
wrapped inside my ribs
in a sea black with ink

I am so out of tune with you

if I had a mountain
I'd try to fold it over
if I had a boat
you know I'd probably roll over
and I'd leave it on the shore
I'd leave it for somebody
surely there's somebody
who needs it more than me

I am so out of tune with you

all the leaves will burn
and autumn fires will return
all the fires we burn
all will return

and music is my savior
I was maimed by rock n roll
I was maimed by rock n roll
I was tamed by rock n roll
I got my name from rock n roll

6. new realization -- sublime (second hand smoke)

the time has come
to reach a new realization between me and you
time to clear the rumors, sensations and things that are just not true
well I thought I heard you behind me
with a knife straight for my back
it's quite clear that I'm back in the swing of a living
tho I might not be on the right track
thought I might drown
but it's hard to keep a good man down

(down)town's where you'll find me
threw some ill guy a hand
altho I never listen, girl
I damn well understand
and you think I'm so damn feeble
but I can see thru your lies
you're just a crack of shit with a pretty smile
and I refuse to compromise
oh you're giving me such a heavy heavy heavy load

you may hold some vision of truth
if truth can be found in a lie
maybe some grain of inspiration for a song that's deep inside
oh tears running down your face
just screaming "look me in the eye"
well I'm looking straight at your twisted face
and it's enough to make me cry
the path is there for those who want to pay the price of loving you
in more ways than one
wrapped around your finger
but I think my time has come
but I never can be too sure
cuz I like to have a little fun
oh what fun it would be to blow my mind and fall into the sun
a mind is a precious thing to taste

7. bedlam -- elvis costello and the imposters (the delivery man)

I've got this phosphorescent portrait of gentle Jesus meek and mild
I've got this harlot that I'm stuck with carrying another man's child
the solitary star announcing vacancy burnt out as we arrived
they'd throw us back across the border if they knew that we survived
and they were surprised to see us so they greeted us with palms
they asked for ammunition, acts of contrition and small alms

and I might recite a small prayer
(if I ever said them)
lay down on an iron frame
and found myself in bedlam
I wish that I could take something for drowning out the noise
wailing echoes down the corridors

I've got this imaginary radio and I'm punching up the dial
I've got the A.C. trained on the T.V. so it won't blow up in my eye
and everything that I thought fanciful and mocked as too extreme
must be family entertainment here in the strange land of my dreams
now I'm practicing my likeness of St. Francis of Assisi
for if I hold my hand outstretched a little bird comes to me

and I might recite a small prayer
(if I ever said them)
I lay down on an iron frame
and found myself in bedlam
escaping from the fingers that were stretching through the bars
wailing echoes down the corridors

the player piano picks out "Life Goes On"
the ring tone rang out "Jerusalem"
into the pit of sadness where the wretched plunge
we've buried all the innocents
we must bury revenge

they've got this scared and decorated girl
strapped to the steel trunk of a mustang
they drove her down a cypress grove
where traitors hang and stars still spangle
they dangled flags and other rags along a coloured thread of twine
and then they dragged that bruised and purple heart along the road to Palestine

someone went off muttering
he mentioned thirty pieces
Easter saw a slaughtering
each wrapped in bloodstained fleeces
then my thoughts returned to vengeance
but I put up no resistance
though I seemed a long way from my home
it really was no distance

and I might recite a small prayer
(if I ever said them)
I lay down on an iron frame
and found myself in bedlam
bowing like an actor acknowledging applause
playing the Crusader who was conquering the Moors
and he knew the consequences but he won't accept the cause
wailing echoes down the corridors

8. this cold -- john frusciante (shadows collide with people)

I don't need a ride to arrive
I don't feel approached any time
if you feel a fader on a decline
out of all you've ever been
and you won't need time
you never need time

I don't need this every God
you see every ghost am I
have we found a phase to be out of?
transfer all your thoughts to me
and you won't need love
you don't need love

I don't need this sin to go
down to where all forevers flow
every fate released is revealed slow
never talking back to me
say it out loud, say it out loud

I feel this cold
I never stay and I never go

9. saudade -- pato fu (isopor)

é de manhã bem cedo
a rua desperta
na primeira hora sinto falta de você
e vou pedir mais uma vez
pra você voltar

olha eu sei que não tenho a sorte e o tempo
sempre que eu tento, não consigo te dizer
tão simples é
mas eu perdi
tão lindo amor

a saudade faz sofrer
não precisa nem querer
mais e mais
vou lembrar você

10. hope -- r.e.m. (up)

you want to go out friday and you want to go forever
you know that it sounds childish that you've dreamed of alligators
you hope that we are with you and you hope you're recognized
you want to go forever
you see it in my eyes

I'm lost in the confusion and it doesn't seem to matter
you really can't believe it and you hope it's getting better

you want to trust the doctors
their procedure is the best
but the last try was a failure and the intern was a mess
and they did the same to Matthew and he bled till sunday night
they're saying "don't be frightened"
but you're weakened by the sight of it

you lock into a pattern and you know that it's the last ditch
you're trying to see thru it and it doesn't make sense
and they're saying "don't be frightened"
and they're killing alligators
and they're hog-tied and accepting of the struggle

you want to trust religion and you know it's allegory
but the people who are followers have written their own story
so you look up to the heavens and you hope that it's a spaceship
and it's something from your childhood
you're thinking "don't be frightened"

you want to climb the ladder
you want to see forever
you want to go out friday and you want to go forever
and you want to cross your D.N.A.
to cross your D.N.A. with something reptile
and you're questioning the sciences
and questioning religion
and you're looking like an idiot
and you no longer care
and you want to bridge the schism
a built-in mechanism to protect you
and you're looking for salvation
you're looking for deliverance
you're looking like an idiot
but you no longer care

cuz you want to climb the ladder
you want to go forever
you want to out friday and you want to go forever
and you want to bridge the schism
a built-in mechanism to protect you
